Job Title: Application Engineer - Marine Defense Control Systems

Description:
ESSENTIAL:
1. Maintains configuration control of all electrical and electronic propulsion control systems and components
2. Maintains an independent assessment of propulsion control system performance
3. Evaluates alternative propulsion control system configurations and makes recommendations on preferred technical and cost solutions
4.Provides all technical information required by customer
5. Identifies and reports technical and schedule problems and recommends corrective action
6. Works with our company and subcontractor counterparts developing mechanical systems to ensure proper functionality under all operating modes
7. Maintains system design histories
8. Reviews and approves subcontractor technical documentation
9. Reviews and approves all system Technical Documents
10. Tracks and reports status of all Subcontract Design Requirements List (SDRL) items
Supplemental:
1. Provides management with regular reports on project work plans and status for information and resource management purposes
2. Maintains a neat workplace and organized information files pertaining to project work assignments;
3. Maintains a daily record of work hours by job number for budgeting and auditing purposes per publisher instruct.
4. Performs special projects.
Requirements:
REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 3 years of experience in the installation, start-up and testing with any of the following components: marine diesel engines, gas turbines, reduction gears, propulsion shafts, propellers; or 7 years of experience in the installation, start-up and testing with any of the following components: marine diesel engines, gas turbines, reduction gears, propulsion shafts, propellers.
2. Familiarity with the installation, testing and operation of complex ship propulsion control systems.
3. This position will be working under a government contract which requires U.S. citizenship for access to government shipyards and/or vessels.
4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Effective analytical and logical problem solving ability
6. Highly effective interpersonal skills
7. Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.
8. Ability to travel - domestic and international
Preferred:
1. Familiarity with marine regulatory requirements including ABS, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, IEEE,as they relate to the installation and operation of marine propulsion plants and control systems.
