Cornell Companies, Inc. is a leading private provider of Corrections, Treatment and Educational Services to government agencies. Our Regional Correctional Center in downtown Albuquerque NM is currently interviewing for a Payroll Administrator/HR Assistant.
Our Team is seeking a Motivated, Mature, Organized, and Detail Oriented individual to fill this important position.
The Payroll Administrator/HR Assistant position is primarily responsible for our Facility Payroll, HR Data Entry, and maintaining Employee Personnel Files.
Typical Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Employee information Data entry in both Payroll & HR Systems.
- Compile, preparing and completing Bi-weekly, monthly and annual payroll/HR reports.
- Audits payroll data and documentation for accuracy.
- Audits Employee Personnel Files for accuracy.
- Reconciles bi-weekly payroll records for accuracy (i.e. wage earning, tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions, etc.)
- Provides Customer Service to Facility employees regarding payroll/HR discrepancies, problems and issues.
- Participates in problem solving and special projects within the HR/Payroll Department.
- Ensures that payroll-related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies.
- Performs actions necessary to track and determine regular and overtime pay, and factors Shift Differential & periodic bonuses into an employee's bi-weekly paycheck.
-Screens employee's electronic time-sheets for punch, calculating, coding, or other errors.
- Maintains all payroll/HR records and files.
- Reviews and processes payroll adjustments, including vacation, sick, and other time off.
- Fields and responds to payroll inquiries and resolves discrepancies as required.
- Maintains knowledge of rules and laws which govern the payroll administration practices.
- Coordinates with Corporate Payroll as required for payroll related funtions.
- Peforms other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.
The right candidate will have:
-Payroll accounting/HR software experience. Kronos & ADP experience is a huge plus
-Minimum 2 years payroll related experience
**Payroll processing experience is required (Minimum of 2 years).
**Payroll accounting/HR software experience required (Minimum 2 years).
**Must have excellent computer/typing skills.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Able to pass pre-employement drug screening
- Able to pass criminal background check
- Integrity, Maturity, and Discipline a must!
- Payroll accounting/HR software experience required. (Kronos & ADP experience is a huge plus)
- Minimum 2 years payroll related experience
- Able to follow and enforce policies and procedures
- Verbal, writing, computer multi-tasking,and organizational skills required
- Experience within Correctional/treatment setting background a plus but not essential.
